The 32nd Annual Downtown Festival & Art Show is proud to present this year's poster artist, nature photographer John Moran. The featured artwork, titled "Look Into the Eye," is a breath-taking view of the underwater life a photograph Moran made in 2012 at Silver Glen Springs in the Ocala National Forest.
The year-long commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the arrival of Ponce de Leon and his search for the Fountain of Youth presents a prime opportunity to focus renewed attention on our springs--our real magic fountains—which are in serious decline due to pollution and development.
"My heart belongs to the springs of Florida," Moran says. "And that's why it pains me so to see what we are doing to them." Moran has partnered with Lesley Gamble, an art history professor at the University of Florida (and the snorkeler suspended above a column of striped bass in the poster image) to create the Springs Eternal Project.
